New classical open-air concerts at the royal palace
For a long time it was just a dream and many years of hard voluntary work. Now the board of the Konzertgesellschaft Neuschwanstein e.V., led by former Ostallgäu District Administrator Johann Fleschhut, has succeeded in reviving the tradition of the castle concerts. From August 21 to 25, 2024, Bavaria will have a new star in the classical music firmament with the Neuschwanstein Concerts 2024. With a distinctive profile, creative concept and stars from the worlds of music, film and television.
The new stage in the Upper Castle Courtyard with its unique acoustics and atmosphere will host classics and the unknown. Works from the canon of classical romanticism as well as Richard Wagner form the focus of the selected pieces. Unheard and surprising - a unique composition in the spirit of the fairytale king. The concert company has been able to attract brilliant musicians as well as stars from film and television under the artistic direction of Andrè Turnheim, who will rehearse their pieces individually in the castle park region just a few days beforehand. Among others, the Junge Philharmonie Berlin under the direction of Marcus Merkel, the OPUS winners 2023 Chaarts, star soprano Vera-Lotte Boecker and the well-known actress and musician Jasmin Tabatabai have been invited to Neuschwanstein. Even Hans Sigl swaps his country doctor's surgery for poetry during the summer break of the TV series “Der Bergdoktor” and reads from letters by Ludwig II, which take you into his dream worlds. On the 179th birthday of King Ludwig II, the Neuschwanstein Concerts 2024 will conclude their program in his memory.
